Brown Sugar Blackened Steak Bites
Hey hey! I haven’t posted a recipe on here in what seems like forever. Summer has been jam-packed. But the cooking hasn’t stopped! I have been developing my craft, style, and taste more than ever this summer. I am excited for the next phase of Cooking Convos and what I will be delivering to you all.
Here is one super simple recipe I have been making on repeat this summer. These are my Brown Sugar Blackened Steak Bites. They are perfectly spiced and crispy—and super tender on the inside. There isn’t much to them, but those are the best recipes, right? These are a certified crowd-pleaser. Make them for a party, or throw them on a bed of mashed potatoes or garlic and herb buttered noodles for the perfect summer dinner.
Prep Time: 5-10 minutes | Cook Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 10-12
Ingredients:
4 high-quality boneless New York strip steaks, fat trimmed and sliced into bite-sized chunks
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp blackening seasoning
2 tbsp brown sugar
kosher salt and black pepper to taste
Method:
Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
In a large bowl, toss together the steak chunks, the other tbsp of olive oil, the blackening seasoning, brown sugar, and kosher salt and black pepper to taste.
Working in batches, place your steak bites in the hot skillet. You want these to develop a nice crust, but you also don’t want them to become too tough. Sear on each side for 2-3 minutes. Medium-rare is 135°F. I try to pull them off at this temp. Place the cooked steak bites to the side while you continue cooking the rest—repeating the same process as before.
I like to serve these on a big serving platter with toothpicks in each steak bite for added convenience. These are also amazing to make to serve with buttered noodles or mashed potatoes. Cut the recipe in half, double it for a large party, or adjust the quantities as needed. Have fun with this recipe, and enjoy!
